LeadShe, UniPatch & Raising Leaders Awards, Upper West
Porducare Enterprise

On March 31st, 2026, Portia Dumba with support from Women Changemaker's for Education and CAMFED brought together over 100 girls from 10 schools in Piisi, in Ghana’s Upper West Region, for a day focused on leadership, confidence, and support.
Her intentional approach was carefully structured around three (3) key elements-
Raising Leaders Recognition Awards – recognizing girls for their effort and leadership (Funded by WC4E)
LeadShe – a leadership session focused on confidence, identity, and personal growth (Funded by CAMFED)
UniPatch – repairing torn school uniforms to support dignity and self-esteem (Funded by CAMFED)
Each part addressed a different need but together, they created a more complete experience for the girls. Scroll down to read more about east element!
LeadShe
At PIISI Junior High School, Portia spent time with 100 girls in a session that felt more like a conversation than a lesson. They talked about leadership in everyday terms including speaking up in class, taking initiative, and trusting their own abilities.
As the session went on, more girls began to share and ask questions. For many, it was a chance to see themselves a little differently and start thinking about what they could do.
UniPatch
The UniPatch Project focused on something often overlooked: school uniforms.
By sewing torn uniforms and replacing missing buttons, the team helped students feel more comfortable and confident in their school environment.
It was a small but meaningful intervention that made an immediate difference.
Raising Leaders Recognition Awards
The day also included the Raising Leaders Recognition Awards, where 10 girls, one from each school, were acknowledged for their effort and leadership.
Each girl received school supplies and personal items to support their learning, along with recognition in front of their peers. Moments like this reinforce effort and show other girls what’s possible.
At Women Change Makers for Education, we support Fellows like Portia to design and lead projects that respond directly to the realities in their communities including combining mentorship, practical support, and opportunity.
Because when girls are supported in these ways, the impact extends far beyond a single day.
