Agnes Etuah

Before the Fellowship (2024)

Agnes Etuah is a lifelong changemaker from Apam, a small fishing community in Ghana. She has a deep calling and passion for international relations and global development.

Before founding Buoyant Future Foundation, Agnes was supporting young people through mentorship, education, and health initiatives. She regularly gathered children from her community and Sunday school to educate them on the importance of education and health while mentoring them through different stages of life.

Alongside her personal community work, Agnes volunteered, and continues to volunteer with local and international organizations promoting community, human, and global development.

Her own educational journey was made possible through scholarships from CAMFED Ghana, which supported her through senior high school, and the Mastercard Foundation Scholars Program at CAMFED Ghana, which funded her tertiary education. These opportunities strengthened her commitment to community development. Despite facing challenges, Agnes remained steadfast in pursuing her passion for empowering young people.

At the time, her initiative was driven by passion and purpose but had not yet been formally established as a registered organization. She was looking for the knowledge, systems, mentorship, and networks needed to sustain and scale her impact.

Joining the Women Changemakers for Education (WC4E) Fellowship marked a transformative step in her journey.

During the Fellowship (2024–2026)

Upon joining the WC4E Fellowship in 2024, Buoyant Future Foundation and Agnes experienced a turning point.

Through the training component, Agnes developed clear vision and mission statements, refined the organization's theory of change, and put in place essential policies, systems, and structures that positioned Buoyant Future Foundation for scale. She also secured international partnerships and expanded her network for greater impact.

The micro-grant component was equally transformative. Beyond the funding itself, the proposal-writing and pitching process strengthened Agnes's ability to develop compelling funding proposals.

With the grant available through Women Changemakers for Education, Buoyant Future Foundation expanded its reach and visibility. Programs organized around key moments, such as International Women's Day, attracted media attention, key stakeholders in the NGO sector, and new partners. This increased the organization's credibility and opened doors to collaborations with both local and international NGOs.

Mentorship played a critical role in Agnes' growth. Having an experienced mentor to lean on during challenging moments helped her break complex problems into manageable steps, building confidence and resilience. Her mentor also shared opportunities, encouraged applications, and recommended her for leadership opportunities. Agnes describes this support as one of the most priceless benefits of the Fellowship.

The Accountability Partnership further strengthened her collaboration and networking skills. It created opportunities to learn from fellow young changemakers while being part of a supportive network of women leaders. This made Agnes more ambitious and confident, knowing she was not navigating challenges alone. She also formed lifelong sisterhoods through the Fellowship, creating a community where members continue to learn from one another and share opportunities and ideas.

After the Fellowship (2026–Now)

As the WC4E Fellowship for Cohort 3 concludes in August 2026, Agnes continues to benefit from its long-term impact.

Buoyant Future Foundation has grown into a scalable, impact-driven organization expanding access to education, mentorship, digital literacy, mental health, and entrepreneurship for young people in Ghana and beyond.

In 2026, Buoyant Future Foundation has impacted over 5,000+ young people!

Through the Fellowship, Agnes officially registered Buoyant Future Foundation, which is now recognized and licensed by the NPO Secretariat in Ghana.

The Fellowship also connected Agnes with the Executive Director of Women Changemakers for Education, Constance Kane, who continues to mentor her in both her social impact initiative and her personal life. Agnes describes Constance as someone with a good spirit who is truly God-sent and continues to serve as a mother she can turn to for guidance and decision-making.

Agnes also continues to benefit from the strong networks she built through the Fellowship. She remains actively connected to her cohort peers, sharing opportunities and supporting one another as women leaders. The Fellowship rekindled her passion for impact, strengthened her resilience and tough-mindedness, and continues to inspire her commitment to serving her community, young people, and the world at large.
