On Friday, 30th January 2026, the Learn To Read Foundation implemented "The Library Access Project" at a school in Kasoa, donating 500 copies of storybooks to support literacy development and increase students’ access to engaging reading materials.

The Library Access Project is designed to improve literacy outcomes by increasing access to age-appropriate and engaging reading materials in underserved schools. By equipping schools with storybooks, the project aims to cultivate a culture of reading while supporting both teachers and students with essential learning resources.

The visit was structured to go beyond a donation ceremony. Activities were designed to make reading interactive, joyful, and participatory.

Students engaged in:

  • Guided reading sessions

  • Sectional competitions

  • Interactive and tech-related learning challenges

  • Read-aloud activities

The classrooms were energetic and collaborative. Students actively participated, encouraged one another, and demonstrated enthusiasm for reading.

A highlight of the event was the opportunity for students to take center stage.

They presented:

  • Cultural performances

  • Poetry recitations

  • Dance displays

  • Public reading sessions

The real impact of the project will be seen when these books are used over time in daily reading sessions, classrooms, and independent learning.

For many of the students, access to storybooks had been limited. With these new resources now available, teachers are better equipped to support literacy development, and students have more opportunities to strengthen their reading skills and build confidence.
