Cohort 2 Graduation & 2024 Conference
Cohort 2 Graduation & 2024 Conference

This year’s conference was hosted by our 2022- 2024 recently graduated Fellows and was dubbed - “Women Influencing Education and Innovation for Social Change”. It was completely designed, planned, managed, and put on by the 2022-2024 Fellows themselves. Attended by six of our Accra-based mentors, representatives of the Department of Social Welfare, foundations, corporations, key female entrepreneurs and young women eager to join the Fellowship - the energy in the room was electric. There were over 100 people in attendance, and we are so proud to give our alumnae their Certificates of Achievement for all they have accomplished. We are already excited looking forward to our next Conference.

Hmm... What have our Alumnae been up to?

2024 has been a busy year for our inspiring Alumnae network and we are happy to provide some of their outstanding highlights.

Dodd (Cohort 1), our Country Advisor and creator of The Kaya Childcare Center, completed an impactful project in partnership with The Mastercard Foundation to create the Early Learning Content Boxes. Each year Women Changemakers for Education celebrates International Women’s Day. This year, with the theme “Inspire Inclusion”, we supported 10 IWD proposals from both Fellows and Alumnae, a 50% + increase from 2023. These IWD activities have key purposes of heightening awareness, generating local community and institutional support, and training in practical skills. This year’s highlight events of Cohort 2 Alumnae.

A monumental moment for women’s rights

On the 30th of July, 2024, the Minister for Gender, Children and Social Protection, Honourable Dakoa Newman, announced the passage of the Ghana Affirmative Action Act, 2024 (Gender Equity Act). The Act aims at promoting gender equality and women empowerment by addressing the systemic barriers that have hindered women in the Ghanaian society by progressively increasing the minimum percentage of female representatives in Parliament until 50% in 2030

Giving Tuesday - 2024

We did it—and it’s all thanks to you! Your collective generosity, combined with the Global Giving match, propelled us over the finish line (on 3rd December).
