The Journey Behind Well Skills Hub
When I first stepped into classrooms in Northern Ghana, I was met with a heartbreaking reality—Grade 9 students who couldn't read or write. My heart sank, knowing the uphill battle they’d face without basic education. I began with a small reading club, offering a space where students could build their literacy skills. From there, I introduced hands-on learning, teaching crafts like beading to spark creativity and confidence. But soon, I realized it wasn’t just the students who needed support—their mothers and caregivers were also struggling. I saw students skipping school to help their families earn money, leading to truancy, low academic participation, and, for many girls, early marriage and pregnancy.
It became clear: education alone wasn’t enough. That’s when I founded the Well Skills Hub—a space to empower women and girls with practical skills and economic opportunities. My goal was simple but powerful: to break the cycle of poverty and give families a chance at a brighter future. Today, I’m proud of how far we’ve come. Women are now coming together to drive change in our communities, and their transformation is both empowering and inspiring. Yet, I know this is just the beginning. As I continue this journey, I carry with me two quotes that fuel my mission:
"When women thrive, communities thrive." – African Proverb
"Alone we can do so little; together we can do so much." – Helen Keller
These words remind me daily of the power of unity and the importance of empowering women and girls to lead change.
The Impact of WC4E
Joining the Women Changemakers for Education (WC4E) Fellowship was a instrumental in my journey. It gave me a supportive community where I could share ideas, learn from others, and stay motivated. The opportunity to collaborate with like-minded changemakers helped me refine my approach and dream even bigger.
Current Highlights
Right now, we’re witnessing something truly powerful: women coming together to achieve the unthinkable. Together, we’re not only transforming lives—we're contributing to national development. This collective momentum is proof that when women unite, they lead with purpose and impact.
Hopes and Aspirations
Looking ahead, I aspire to grow personally and professionally, continue expanding my network, and build resilience that will help me spearhead change on an even larger scale. My ultimate goal is to create a lasting impact in the lives of women and girls, helping them realize their potential and shape a better future.
