The Her Impact Accelerator Initiative, led by Mbasiafo Tribe (founded by Angelina Annobil) and supported by Women Changemakers for Education, empowered two young women with mentorship and mini-grants to launch impactful community projects in Ghana. Through STEM education and youth mentorship, the initiative reached 41 students (31 of them girls) and laid the foundation for scaling women-led grassroots change.

To mark International Women’s Day 2025, the Mbasiafo Tribe, with funding from Women Changemakers for Education, launched the Her Impact Accelerator Initiative, a mini-grant and mentorship program aimed at helping young women move from ideation to impactful community action.

Over the course of March 2025, the program supported two fellows through funding, mentorship, and exposure, enabling them to lead grassroots projects that address challenges faced by women and girls in Ghana’s Central Region.

Program Overview

The initiative was delivered in three core phases:

Phase 1: Storytelling for Inspiration

A virtual session featured two accomplished African women leaders, Teni Agana (Ghana) and Fatuma Nmasare Ramadhan (Kenya), who inspired 49 attendees through personal stories of leadership and impact. This session helped participants reflect on issues in their communities and shaped the ideation process for their proposed solutions.

Phase 2: Capstone Presentations

Ten fellows presented project ideas. Two were selected for seed funding:

  • Bridging the Gender Gap in STEM led by Sally Frimpong at Falahiya Islamic JHS, focusing on STEM mentorship and awareness for Junior High girls.

  • Village Vibes: Unlocking Youth Potential led by Comfort Siebe Sakyi at Ansaful M/A JHS, offering speed mentorship and life skills development for rural youth.

Phase 3: Seed Funding and Mentorship

Each selected fellow received tailored mentorship and a mini-grant to implement her project. In total, the initiative reached 41 students, including 31 girls, through direct intervention.

Key Outcomes

  • Two youth-led projects fully implemented in under a month

  • 41 students directly impacted, 75% of whom were girls

  • Additional 1,500 GHS raised to provide science textbooks for underserved girls post-project

  • Early-stage leaders equipped with both resources and confidence to lead change

Looking Ahead

The success of the Her Impact Accelerator Initiative has sparked a desire to scale. Mbasiafo Tribe is exploring ways to expand the model to support more young women across Ghana, amplifying their voices and leadership in local development.
