Transforming Education at Domangburi

We are proud to celebrate the remarkable leadership of Portia Dumba (Cohort 3) and her commitment to transforming learning opportunities for children in the Domangburi community.

Through her organization, Porducare Touch Life, Portia identified the urgent need to rebuild a dilapidated classroom block that had long limited access to quality education. Many pupils previously shared overcrowded spaces, often sitting on the floor to write.

Determined to change this, Portia reached out to Sisters Keepers and together, they constructed a new three-classroom block that would restore dignity to learning, especially for girls. Her persistence and vision brought this dream to life. Early in 2025, construction began, resulting in a modern, fully furnished three-classroom block equipped with 60 dual desks.

When the project needed additional classroom materials such as marker boards and teachers’ tables, Women Change Makers for Education provided additional support to see to the completion of the initiative. We were honored to contribute these final items, helping to ensure that each classroom was fully functional and ready for use.

The official launch of the new facility was a moment of collective pride and joy. Chiefs, education officers, parents, teachers, and students gathered to celebrate this milestone and to recognize the power of collaboration and community leadership. The day was filled with music, dancing, and deep appreciation for all who made the project possible. Today, the children of Domangburi can learn in safe, comfortable, and inspiring classrooms. Portia’s initiative stands as a powerful example of what can happen when women lead with purpose and compassion.

We are inspired by her work and remain committed to supporting Changemakers like Portia who are reshaping education in their communities.
