For International Women’s Day 2025, supported by Women Changemakers for Education, Buoyant Youth Foundation and Learn To Read Foundation partnered to deliver an inspiring and joyful experience for students at Tomefa Kofe M/A Basic School. The initiative focused on leadership, mentorship, literacy, and the essential resources needed for success in school.

The program featured targeted mentorship sessions covering:

  • River of Life – A reflective session on life journeys and goal setting

  • Knowing Yourself – Building self-awareness and confidence

  • Effective Study Habits – Practical academic strategies

These sessions created a safe space for students—especially girls—to explore their ambitions, voice their dreams, and build leadership confidence.

Literacy & Resources for Learning

To bridge learning gaps and enhance the school environment:

  • Essential school supplies were distributed to all students (including exercise books, pens, pencils, erasers and sharpeners)

  • Footwear and school bags were gifted to 5 needy girls to support their daily commute to school

  • 55 storybooks were donated to the school’s library to boost reading culture

  • A reading session with students before departure immediately sparked interest and joy in literacy

Outcomes That Inspire

  • Students showed increased confidence, expressed clear goals, and were motivated to lead within their school

  • Reading enthusiasm surged thanks to new storybooks and interactive sessions

  • Girls who received supplies reported feeling more motivated and prepared to attend school regularly

  • The entire school community experienced a morale boost as educational needs were visibly addressed

The success of this project was made possible through:

  • Careful coordination with school authorities

  • Supportive involvement of teachers and local leaders

  • Enthusiastic participation from the students

Lessons & Recommendations

  • Mentorship changes mindsets—role models spark confidence and ambition

  • Basic resources unlock potential—simple materials create massive impact

  • Future plans should include scaling to more schools, engaging parents, and equipping teachers to sustain momentum
