WC4E is pleased to highlight the outcome of another sponspored IWD project of our Alumna, Agnes Atanga (Cohort 1). The Academic Success Foundation (TAS) in partnership with CAMFED Association (CAMA) – Accra Chapter equipped 30 young women entrepreneurs with the skills to take their businesses online—many for the very first time.

Bridging the Digital Divide

Held on March 8 in Accra, the workshop focused on both no-code tools (like Google Sites) and introductory HTML coding to ensure accessibility for all learning levels. Participants built real or prototype websites for their businesses by the end of the session—showing that digital transformation starts with the right opportunity.

Impact

  • Website Creation: Every participant built a business site from scratch

  • Business Empowerment: Women created digital portfolios to boost their market presence

  • STEM Confidence: First-time coders expressed excitement about future careers in tech

  • Peer Leadership: Several participants plan to train others and offer design services

  • Ongoing Support: Informal learning circles were formed to sustain momentum

“I never believed I could build a website until today. This is a big win for my fashion business!” — Participant

Sessions Included:

  1. Introduction to Digital Tools & Online Presence

  2. Website Building with Google Sites (No-code)

  3. Basic HTML for Beginners

  4. Case Study Reviews & Feedback

  5. Sustaining Skills and Exploring Tech Careers

The Road Ahead

To sustain the progress:

  • Virtual follow-up clinics will support continued growth

  • Training will be expanded to other CAMA chapters

  • A Digital Mentorship Circle is being explored to nurture women in tech

This was my first time coding, and now I want to explore how to become a web designer.” – Participant

With support from WC4E, these young women now carry not only websites, but a renewed belief in their power to lead in the digital economy.
