Rose Dodd
Fascinated about the impact one’s childhood has later in life, Rose is devoted to providing accessible, high-quality early education for children in her community. Her long-term professional goal is to become a policy and practice influencer in the field.
Rose is the Founder and Director of Kaya Childcare, a registered education organization that provides early childhood development for the children of Kayayoo. Kaya Childcare addresses the lack of access to quality early childhood education through a low-cost, customized nursery and kindergarten program designed to fit the lifestyle and socio-economic context of the urban poor family. Rose dreams of growing the program from 45 children to 100 and to roll out additional locations across Ghana. In addition to managing fundraising, hiring, and day-to-day operations for her daycare center, Rose is a faculty member at Ashesi University where she prepares lesson materials, evaluates student work, and supervises final projects and thesis in entrepreneurship, leadership, and engineering.
Rose is also Program Manager for the Education Collaborative, Ashesi’s initiative to develop institutions’ capacities to train ethical, entrepreneurial leaders across the African continent. Before this role, she was the Country Manager for Burro Brand Ghana Ltd., a consumer goods company that develops, sources, and distributes productivity-enhancing innovations for low-income households in the Eastern Region. As Country Manager, she ran daily operations in the country office, managed a seven-member team to test new models and expand distribution, and conducted sales training and market testing to launch three new product offerings.
