Shine’s vision is to become a mentor to young girls, to guide them through making important decisions, and to provide financial and material support for further education. She hopes that her Empowered to Educate fellowship will equip her to identify subtle barriers to empowering young girls and the appropriate approach in eradicating those barriers.

Shine works with Plan International Ghana on the Making Ghanaian Girls Great (MGCubed) and Train4Tomorrow (T4T) projects. The MGCubed Project uses solar-powered and satellite-enabled distance learning infrastructures to deliver interactive learning sessions to students, teachers, communities, and government officials. She researches gender sensitive topics, teaches lessons on these topics to Girls Clubs in beneficiary communities, coordinates the Wonder Women Session to empower young girls, and plans and delivers literacy and numeracy modules to remote classrooms across three regions in Ghana. Shine is a Master Teacher/Trainer – Curriculum coordinator. She supports curriculum design and quality assures curriculum content for schools within beneficiary communities. Shine line manages four master trainers and also co-manages a team of ten; together, they transform girls’ professional aspirations to include becoming mechanics, doctors, and presidents among other goals.

Combining all her roles, Shine works on educational projects with 150 volunteer teachers in 72 schools with over 36,000 student beneficiaries. She also works on a T4T (Train4Tomorrow) project, an interactive learning program that shares best teaching practices with educators across almost every region in Ghana. By hosting both face-to-face meetings and creating virtual spaces, Shine is able to maximize her impact and provide a safe space for gender-sensitive discussion to girls across Ghana.
